Susumu Shingu studied painting with Ryohei Koiso, a relative and celebrated painter based in Kobe, from his elementary school days. You can see in this exhibit Shingu's childhood paintings, oil paintings and early three-dimensional works in his Roman period, scale models of the sculptures and new sculptures of indoor and outdoor. This is a unique exhibit to overlook the road of Susumu Shingu with his works that are shown here for the first time.


Opening hours: 10:00 - 17:00  On Friday and Saturday until 18:00.  Last admission 30 min before closing

Closed: On Mondays, July 22 and September 16  Except for Monday, July 21, September 15 and September 22

Lecture by Susumu Shingu Professor Koiso and I was held in Orbis Hall, Kobe Fashion Museum near Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art, in connection with the exhibit, Playing on the Earth.
Shingu told how he started to study painting with Ryohei Koiso when Shingu was a primary school student as well as various episodes with Ryohei Koiso. Shingu then introduced his current activities including Susumu Shingu WIND MUSEUM.

Workshop Let's Feel the Wind

Aimed at: From 4 years old to junior high school students

Capacity: 50 people

Fees: Free

The workshop Let's Feel the Wind was held with Susumu Shingu at Kobe City Koiso Memorial Museum of Art for 45 children from 4 year old to junior high school students.
They enjoyed the exhibit with the explanation of the artist himself and then started to cut and glue paper to make their own objects that move in the wind. They hung the completed objects form the branches of the trees in the nearby park after the workshop, and the colorful objects fluttered in the wind.
